Your Stockroom
Unwanted items, overfull stock
Your Stockroom, unlike your closet, is not unlimited in how many items it can hold. (MAX: 500 different items X 10 of each = 5000 articles of clothing). All the items you purchase from the buyers center will immediately come here (excluding preseason items that come the next day: Monday) Your inventory should reflect your store's interior's affiliated brands (not just personal preference). While you need a little bit of every brand and type of item (i.e. inner, top, outer, etc...) sometimes you might feel that your stockroom's inventory is totally random and out of season so you need to find a way to get rid of some stock.
Getting rid of Brands
In the beginning I tried out a lot of different brands to see which ones I liked. That, plus the stock you are given to start off with, plus the fact that I changed my interior's sponsored brands A LOT meant I ended up with plenty of random pieces from brands I no longer wanted nor had the customers to sell them to. Here are some tips if you find yourself in the same situation!
Be Sneaky - When designing an outfit (either on the mannequin or on a customer), you can usually sneak in one or two items from a different brand as long as they don't clash too much. (For example, adding an Epoque scarf and shoes to a Marble Lily outfit. or an item of their favorite color)
Color Matching - If a customer comes into the store wearing almost entirely one color, there's a good chance they'll buy anything (not a complete outfit) with that color, no matter what the brand.
Sale - This option is excellent if you have a lot of a brand that you need to move. When you have a sale (even only for 10%) customers go crazy and nearly all of them want entire outfits. You'll get customers coming in wanting one of the brands you're sick of, and you can pile on as many pieces from that brand as you can, as long as it fits their budget and is not too showy(over the top).
When all else fails... - We've all gotten those customers where we just can't figure out what they want, and on the last try you get the option to try and convince them to buy what you've picked out anyway. This is a good opportunity to persuade them to run off with something you don't want anymore. As long as they don't find the piece completely hideous, you'll probably get that option.
Last Resort - If you are desperate and really cannot stand having a certain article of clothing (or many articles) in your inventory then you can simply DISCARD them. When you discard an item you will make no profit from it and will lose the money you spent purchasing it.
